I have been a woodworker for the past 30 years, and since 1987 my passion has been the scroll saw. The technique is called fretwork and if done well, it can easily be mistaken for laser cutting.
I started by making functional items such as napkin holders, serving trays, and clocks. Over time these items have become more intricate and complex.
My favorite subject matter, however, has always been nature. I love to create realistic depictions of wildlife on natural slabs of wood. When cutting I try to keep as much of the live edge on the wood as possible to give the picture the most realistic look.
During the summer months I travel throughout the state of Wisconsin displaying and selling my pieces at art shows.
